A community-organised Christmas period tramp and shared getaway for lesbian mothers and others in the Taranaki region. The notice invites participants to take part in a traditional alternative Christmas escape, framing the event as a way to avoid “Xmas yuckies” and instead celebrate with chosen family and community.

Planned Itinerary:

• Tramp to Maketawa Hut on Christmas Eve

• Return to North Egmont Camphouse on 25 December for a shared meal

• If numbers allow, continue on to Kaiaua(i) Hut

• Backup plan to stay at North Egmont Camphouse if weather is poor
  

What Participants Needed to Bring

• Personal food

• Sleeping gear

• Stoves and candles for the huts

• Tents for Kaiaua Hut (hut sleeps four only)

• Outdoor fire permitted at Kaiaua Hut (weather dependent)
