Internship with Te Herenga Wake Victoria University

We are interested in those that went before us, those who helped us create the society and attitudes we enjoy today – and who can inspire further change. We believe that knowing our stories and validating that “we have always been here” is important for our community. Through some fundraising and kind donations we were able to fund a Research Intern from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University for 13 weeks over the summer of 2025/26.
Onjei Bond has agreed to undertake this work and to research the institutions, museums and national collections in Wellington for Taranaki and New Plymouth’s rainbow history. We expect this will uncover many new stories. In 2026 Onjei will report back and make a presentation for the public at Puke Ariki, perhaps during Pride Week 10-19 April 2026.
